OUR STORY

In 1954 Francesco Barilla had a vision to start a business and support his family. He bought a waste disposal company and quickly earned the reputation for exceptional service.

The first vehicle used within the fleet was a single ex-army 4WD tip truck that Francesco operated himself. His commitment and vision was to ensure he serviced his customers on time, and he taught his six sons that customer service was everything.

Our customer base started with the fruiterers, green grocers and market industries in the local Melbourne area. Over the years, Francesco and his sons worked together to expand their service area, increase its fleet and broaden on the various services we offer.

The late Francesco Barilla's legacy still lives on 70 years later, as his sons and grandchildren continue to manage and operate Speedie Waste & Recycle.
